neon black co-founder, soraya calavassy named as telstra business women’s awards finalist
We are so excited to announce that our Neon Black Director and Co-Founder, Soraya Calavassy has been named a Finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in 2020.
From more than 20,000 entrants nationally, Soraya has been named one of five NSW Finalists in the Emerging Leader category, amongst some of Australia’s most promising young entrepreneurs and leaders aged 30 years and under.
The Telstra Business Women’s Awards celebrates amazing and inspiring women in business across a range of different industries and sectors, and is proud to empower these women with opportunities to continue their journey of personal and professional growth and achievements. 2020 marks a 25 year milestone of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
“Being named as a State Finalist of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in its 25th year has been an absolute honour and a huge surprise. This has been hugely meaningful not only to me as an individual, but to our entire Neon Black team,” says Soraya.
“Each and every single state finalist from around the country has achieved phenomenal things on their own personal journey, and to be named an ‘Emerging Leader’ alongside some of the most impressive women from a range of industries and businesses around Australia is just incredible,” commented Calavassy.
The Telstra Business Women’s Awards assesses entrants on their career journey so far, leadership skills, their personal impact in business, innovation and how they drive value to their business and industry. The process involves an online questionnaire, a lengthy written submission and a face-to-face interview with a judging panel. Entrants are also assessed on their commitment to socio-economic change and the wider community.
“I have always been hugely passionate about social issues and am so proud to be a Strategic Advisor to mental health organisation Heart on My Sleeve, as well as Pass it On Clothing & Co who works with homeless and disadvantaged Australians,” said Soraya. “I’ve been working with both organisations almost since their inception, volunteering time, expertise and skills. I genuinely feel that this is some of the most important and worthwhile work I have done in my career and I would love to use this opportunity as a State Finalist to raise further awareness of both of these two organisations and the meaningful work they do in the community.”
“Over the past five years I’ve worked tirelessly alongside my Co-Founder Finbar Corrall and our small but mighty Neon Black team to build a boutique agency that has generated real-life and real-time results and made a true impact for our partners. There’s no doubt being named a Telstra Business Women’s Awards Emerging Leader Finalist has been hugely exciting, not only for me, but for our entire team and the Communications industry,” says Soraya.
